2017 Sharing Time Ideas for November Week 1: I can be a missionary by serving others.

Ideas for November Week 1 LDS Primary Sharing Time,

2017 Sharing Time Outline Theme: Choose the Right

November 2017 Sharing Time Topic: I Can Choose to Be a Missionary Now

November 2017 Scripture: “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

November 2017 Song: Your Choice

November Week 1 Topic: I can be a missionary by serving others.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important thing is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ!  (All printables for this sharing time can be found and printed by clicking the "Free Printable Download" button. They are free and can be printed and used for personal and church purposes)

Sharing Time Instruction:

Before sharing time place the letters for "Missionary" under some of the children's chairs.  To begin sharing time, invite the children to look under their chairs to see if they have any letters. If they do invite them to come up in the front of the room and try to make the word. Explain that it goes in the order of the rainbow.

When it is in order invite the primary children to say what the word says.  Read the following quote to the primary children, "The Lord has declared that missionary work is the responsibility of all who follow Him." (LDS.ORG Missionary Work)

Explain that all of them can be missionaries right now.

Show the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "I can be a missionary by serving others."

Explain that for the rest of sharing time they are going to share ways they can serve those around them. Explain that as we serve others we are serving Heavenly Father and we are being a missionary,  helping others as well as ourselves come closer to Jesus.

Invite a primary child to come up and toss the paper block (See printable below) Whatever is on the top of the block will be what they will share how they could serve that person.  For example if the block lands on friends, then you would ask, "How can you serve your friends?" They would share how they could serve their friends.

Continue inviting children to toss the block and share about serving others until time runs out.

Close by sharing your testimony of missionary work and serving others.

How to make the block:

Print printable out onto white card stock. Then cut it out.

Using a ruler and either an embossing tool or a tooth pick, emboss the dotted lines (this will make it easier to fold)

Fold on all of the dotted lines.

Using double sided sticky tape, a glue gun or a glue stick, glue the first to flaps to the first side.

Fold up the other side flap and glue the tabs, so it forms a box.

Glue the top flaps down & block is finished and ready to be used for Sharing Time! :)
