One of my favorite things each month is to come up with something to give my hubby's ministering families and to my ministering sisters. I find that it gives us motivation to make sure that we make a visit. Of course visiting isn't the only way that we minister to our families! I love that ministering is just being friends, caring about each other, reaching out to each other and being there for each other.

I was at a friends house helping put handouts together for our Stake Primary meeting. We were talking about Christmas neighbor gifts and I had told her that I had a whole bunch on my blog. She hadn't really visited it, so I showed her some of the tags on it. She had written down a quote by President Monson, that she really loved and was thinking about doing something with it.

Every year I try to come up with something fun to give my ministering sister and neighbors for Christmas. Last year it was the Root beer Reindeer and the cookie mixes. This year, I really wanted to do gnomes. So with that in mind, I went to the store to find a container that would be my base. These ones are done our of a can of peanuts. But you could use a can of hot cocoa mix, or another nut mix. Then I knew I was probably going to use yarn for the beard. So, I went down the yarn isle. I found this faux fur yarn and immediately knew that, it was what I was going to use!! I wanted to find some wooden balls or knobs, but there were none in the store, so I knew I was just going to have to figure something out.

My mom contacted me the other day and said that she could get me a bunch of these boxes of hash browns. So of course I jumped on it, because they are great for food storage and a great idea to give to neighbors and ministering families & sisters.

We have many influences of amazing women in our lives. For a lot of us the first influence is that of our mom. At the age of 19, a year after she and my dad were married, I entered this world and made my mom a mom.  To say she has had an influence on me would be an understatement. This lady right here is the most selfless person you'll meet. We were so blessed to have her stay home with us, she coached our teams, helped at our schools, taught us the importance of the gospel both through word and action, she cheered us on in all aspects of our lives and gave us her unconditional love. What is great about Mother's Day is it is an opportunity to share with the women in our lives the gratitude we have for the influences they have had on us.
