Two Great Halloween Activity Pages That Are Essential For Your Next Party!

Two Great Halloween Activity Pages That Are Essential For Your Next Party!

Life has been so busy lately!! You should see my kitchen, usually I never let dishes pile up in both sides of my sink. But between teaching seminary again, planning a ward party and just life with kids, I've fallen behind a little on those every day house duties. With being so busy, I haven't been posting on here regularly. I had some much interest in both of these activity pages, that I really wanted to get them posted on here. So, if you can use them this year great! If not this year, make sure you save them or pin them for next year.

The other day I was walking home from taking my kiddo to school and I was thinking about what I could do for my ministering sisters and my husband and son's ministering families, this month. That's when this idea came to my mind, to make ghosts out of two liter bottles of pop. I am super happy with how they turned out!!

One of my very most favorite things about fall is going to my pumpkin patch and seeing what grew. This year as I was cutting the stems I noticed that I had a bunch of these smaller pumpkins, they are just too cute!! I decided right away that I wanted to use them to give to my ministering sisters and my hubby and son to give to their ministering families. I love sharing things out of my garden with others.

Family Home Evening on Being the Light to Others

For tonight's Family Home Evening the topic in which I have chosen is:

Being a Light to Others

Preparation: I hope and pray that you can use these ideas as a guideline and adjust them to the needs of your own specific family.  Our prophet President Monson says, "We cannot afford to neglect this heaven-inspired program. It can bring spiritual growth to each member of the family, helping him or her to withstand the temptations which are everywhere. The lessons learned in the home are those that last the longest. On Lds.org there are resources available in helping to make your Family Home Evenings successful, here is a link to that site on Family Home Evenings.

Day 11 of the 12 Days of Halloween Fun: Spiders, Spiders and more Spiders

The are Creepy They are Crawly and frankly give you the chills when you see them...Spiders.  The only spiders I like are ones made out of pom poms, paper, fabric or wood.  When we moved into our current house, I saw my first BLACK WIDOW spider.  Since the first one, I have seen and disposed of over 50 of those shiny black pests.  Luckily non have ever made it into my home and each year there seems to be less and less.  It is no surprise that Spiders are associated with the creepy stuff of Halloween.

One morning while living in Washington I went on a walk and saw these beautifully created spider webs. They were so magnificent that I had to run in and get my camera to take some pictures.  It was just the perfect circumstances, there was dew resting on the webs, making them glisten in the slight sun light. I was amazed at the beautiful detail!

Day 9 and 10 of the 12 Days of Halloween Fun: Halloween Games (Cake Walk, Bingo, Halloween Character Swat)

After a crazy day of Field Trips, Presidency Meetings, shopping for primary and trying to get this post in...it didn't get finished yesterday. So, I am combining Day 9 and 10 and posting some fun Halloween Games that would be fun for School, Church or Family Parties.

Day 8 of the 12 Days of Halloween Fun: Bat Burlap Wreath

Luckily I was given some burlap and I purchased the green wire wreath frame on clearance for under 2 dollars. So this little wreath project was an inexpensive one. I wanted to make a wreath that I could change out the look for each season.  See below how I accomplished it...

Day 7 of the 12 Days of Halloween Fun: Halloween Finger Print Fun & Cards

Most children that I know love to use their creativity to make things.  One thing my children always love to do is make cards. Every holiday & birthday we make our cards, rather than buying them. So, why not make some cute Halloween cards also, to give away with little goodies to family and friends.

Day 7 of the 12 Days of Halloween Fun: Halloween Finger Print Fun & Cards:

You can do this one of two ways. Either you can first do the finger painting and then come back when it is dry with a fine tip permanent marker and add details. Or you can draw some designs and then fill in with finger paint.  I actually used both techniques on the card above.

The bottom three designs were done by my kids. Each are unique and expresses their creativity. I don't know any grandparent who wouldn't love one of these cards!!

We used finger paints that I purchased at the dollar store. The black was normal craft paint. The finger paint was definitely easier to get off of the hands than the craft paint!

Day 6 of the 12 Days of Halloween Fun: Scrap Wood Pumpkins

A little secret about myself... I love to make crafts out of STUFF I have around the house. That is probably while you'll see a lot of scrap 2x4 or other scrap wood crafts on here.

For Day 6 of the 12 Days of Halloween Fun I choose to post about some Scrap Wood Pumpkins I've made:

This cute pumpkin trio are made of scraps of wood I found at my parents house.  I didn't have to cut them because they were just pieces left over, it worked out great that they are staggering sizes.  I painted them orange, drilled a hole the size of my sticks and then glued the sticks in as stems. Then I tied raffia and some scrap green fabric around the stem.  These cuties have been on my porch for a couple years, thus the weathered look.

These 2X4 pumpkins were also made out of scraps of wood. This time it was scrap 2x4's.
Here is the tutorial for these PUMPKINS: 2X4 Pumpkins

Day 5 of the 12 Days of Halloween Fun: Gauze/Cheesecloth Ghost

A few years back my mom gave me this roll of gauze like material. It is about 12 inches in width and I am not sure how much is on the roll. This stuff is amazing!! I have used it to make mummies and ghosts. If you can't find a large roll of gauze, then I am sure some cheesecloth would work.

For Day 5 of 12 Days of Halloween Fun I chose to resurrect one of my previous posts: Gauze/Cheesecloth Ghost

Day 3 of the 12 Days of Halloween Fun: DIY Star Wars Costumes

One of my favorite things about Halloween are the fun things my children get to dress up as.  They get excited and so do I! We have had some cute costumes, most of them my mom made, some have been store bought, and some I have even ventured into making.  I have to tell you that my favorites by far are the homemade ones!! They are more original, cute and frankly put together better.

Day 2 of 12 Days of Halloween Fun: Fun Halloween Color and Activity Sheets

As a child I loved laying on the floor in my bedroom with a sheet of paper in front of me and an assortment of colors! It warms my heart when I walk into one of my child's rooms and see them doing the same thing. Coloring helps develop motor skills and encourages creativity. It also has been found to not only be beneficial for children, but also adults.  In an article posted by The Huffington Post, titled  "Coloring Isn't Just For Kids. It Can Actually Help Adults Combat Stress.", it discusses the distressing benefits that have been found when adults color. In the article, psychologist Gloria Martínez Ayala states, "The action involves both logic, by which we color forms, and creativity, when mixing and matching colors. This incorporates the areas of the cerebral cortex involved in vision and fine motor skills [coordination necessary to make small, precise movements]. The relaxation that it provides lowers the activity of the amygdala, a basic part of our brain involved in controlling emotion that is affected by stress." So, to put it plain and simple coloring is beneficial for anyone, regardless of your age!

For day 2 of 12 Days of Halloween Fun, I thought I would post some Halloween Coloring and Activity pages :

This is how the below printable will look when put together

Day 1 of The 12 Days of Halloween FuN: DIY Halloween Craft- 2x4 Mummies

The thought came to me, wouldn't it be fun to have 12 days of Halloween? The idea is that each day, I will post a Halloween craft or idea. This first craft is one I first created a few years back. I made some more again last year for my kids teachers. It is a fun easy craft, one I love making!!
