#StartingToday I'm Letting Go: Forgiveness in Freeing Digital Watercolor of Christ's Crucifixion

#StartingToday I'm Letting Go: Forgiveness in Freeing Digital Watercolor of Christ's Crucifixion,

Today, for the Easter campaign #StartingToday, the prompt is "I'm Letting Go".

One of the greatest commandments that God has given us is FORGIVENESS:

"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." (Mark 11:25)

Forgiveness is actually an act that blesses us! It is one of the things that I loved teaching the youth when I was a Young Women's leader. I love it, because I know from experiences the blessings that forgiveness brings into our lives.

In general, I am one who does not get offended easily, I am pretty lade back in that sense and always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. But there have been times in my life where I have been hurt, where the only way to overcome that hurt was by forgiveness.

When I think of forgiveness I think of my Savior, who hung upon the cross of Calvary, after being whipped and ridiculed. He said to the Father, "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."(Luke 23:34) This example of forgiveness has given me the courage to let go, to just forgive and to forgive freely. To forgive freely means that we are not dependent upon the offender to show remorse or say sorry. The power to forgive lies within us. When we forgive, it really frees us from those awful feeling of anger, vengeance or revenge. It instead allows us to heal, to find hope and peace in our Savior's atonement. His atonement promises us that all will be made right.

I have found that forgiveness is essential in marriage and in family life. It's the only way to keep going, to overcome conflicts and to bring harmony into your home. In particular there was one time when I was so upset and so hurt, I was so discouraged and felt so hopeless. I remember sitting on my bed and turning it over to my Savior. I asked for His help to forgive. I felt such a peace, I felt the warm comforting arms of my Savior. Sometimes in our lives, we might find we are in a situation when it is very hard to forgive. It is in those times that we have to turn it over to the Savior. We can pray for help to be able to forgive. We can have faith in His atonement.

When I was thinking about what I wanted to do for today, I decided that I would make my Christ's Crucifixion watercolor a free printable. It's my hope that the Savior's example of forgiveness might prompt you to think of those in your life that you might forgive. To download the printable click the free download button below.
