Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants D&C 29 Resources and Insights

Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants D&C 29 Resources and Insights,

Last week, we learned and discussed the importance of our intent in partaking of the Sacrament and remembering our Savior. We also discussed putting on the armor of God and how it will protect us against the fiery darts of the adversary.

This week, we are serving section 29. We will be discussing our Heavenly Father's plan, as well as preparing for the Lord's second coming.

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

Day 1:

As soon as I read this in this week’s study, I thought about General Conference. One of my favorite things to do before General Conference is to invite my kids to think of a question or something they would like to have greater knowledge of, or something they would like to have help with. To write it down and to pray about it. Then sincerely & intently listen during conference for the answer.
I love when after conference, when one of them says that they received an answer. I know that our Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers. One way is through prophets. Both ancient day and modern day. I’ve received so many answers from listening to conference, as well as from studying the scriptures!
Joseph Smith has provided us with a wonderful example! If he didn’t quite understand something or he desired further information or direction, he did not hesitate taking it to prayer and asking of God. His faith is inspiring!! Look at all of the wonderful revelations and doctrine we have from him asking in faith!
I invite you to ponder yourself on what question you might ask, what would you like to gain a greater understanding of? Take it to Heavenly Father in prayer & then intently listen during conference for an answer ♥️

Day 2

Do you ever think about how sad it must have made our Heavenly Parents to have 1/3 of their spirit children reject our Father’s plan? I’m sure it made them sad.

Our Father’s plan just makes sense to me. Maybe it’s because I already chose to believe in the plan once. While we were in premortal world we were presented with our Father’s plan, we chose to believe and follow it. We know we did, because we are here in mortality, using our agency to make choices.
I’m grateful for the opportunity we have to study what the Lord gave to Joseph Smith in D&C 29, in regards to our Father’s plan and preparations for the second coming of Christ.

I love that our Father’s plan is a plan of love! He loves us and wants to afford us every opportunity to return to His presence. ♥️♥️ How does our Father’s plan help you feel of His love?

Day 3:

Is this not the reason we chose to come to this mortal world?! To be numbered among the righteous and be able to gain eternal life in our Father’s presence?! When I read this scripture I yearned for it to be me. I want so much to be with my Heavenly Father again someday.

Tonight, we had a great discussion about our Father’s plan. I’m grateful for the questions my family members asked & the opportunity to learn and grow together! I know that families are central to our Father’s plan!

As we think about being numbered among the righteous, I believe a big part of it is repentance. We all make mistakes/sin. But the righteous, repent. They choose to repent and progress. They choose to accept the fullness of the gospel. They turn to God and to the Savior. How vital the atonement of Jesus Christ is to our Father’s plan & how vital it is that we choose to access it!

What stood out to you in this week’s study about our Father’s plan?

Day 4:

We hear the word “gather” in this week’s study. President Nelson has asked that we help gather Israel. How do we do this?!? What does it mean?!?

President Nelson gives an excellent explanation, “Anytime you do anything that helps anyone—on either side of the veil—take a step toward making covenants with God and receiving their essential baptismal and temple ordinances, you are helping to gather Israel. It is as simple as that.”

Anything we do that helps others progress on their covenant path is gathering Israel!! I think we use the spirit to help guide us. Guide us to those who are ready to let God prevail in their lives. Guide us to know what is the right way to gather, certain people. I know that loving others is essential in gathering!

I also loved that President Nelson said, “The Book of Mormon is central to the gathering of Israel. In fact, if there were no Book of Mormon, the promised gathering of Israel would not occur.” I love the importance of the Book of Mormon!!! If you have not read it (or listened to it) I strongly encourage you to do so! There is a promise that the spirit will witness of its truth, if your intentions are sincere.

Tonight as a family, we discussed why it is important to gather as Saints? To gather in our stakes? I believe one reason is that there is strength in gathering! I know that my testimony is strengthen when I hear others share their testimonies. Recently, this past week our Stake each day has asked a question on our Facebook page. We’ve been encouraged to comment our answers to those questions. I have loved reading the comments. It helps me to feel united with my Stake members & helps strengthen my faith.

This gospel is about uplifting others and it’s about progression!! I’m so glad that we are invited to do both! To uplift and to work together, to help each other progress along the covenant path!!

What stood out to you in your studying about gathering?
