2017 LDS Sharing Time Ideas for July Week 2: Being kind is doing and saying nice things to others.

Ideas for July Week 2 LDS Primary Sharing Time,

2017 Sharing Time Outline Theme: Choose the Right

July 2017 Scripture: “Wherefore, let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord” (1 Nephi 3:16).

July 2017 Song: “The Wise Man and the Foolish Man” (CS, 281)

July Week 2 Topic: Being kind is doing and saying nice things to others.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important thing is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ!

Sharing Time Instruction:

Begin, by inviting the primary children to sing the song, "Kindness Begins with Me"

Ask the primary children what the song asks of us to do?  It invites us to be kind to everyone.  Who does kindness begin with???? Invite the primary children to point to themselves and explain that the song says, "Kindness begins with me"

Show the week's theme poster to the primary children and invite them to repeat, "Being kind is doing and saying nice things to others."

Explain to the primary children that they are going to do a little activity to help them learn about how to do and say nice things to others.

Using the printable block's below, explain to the primary children that on each side of one block is a name/title of a person. On the other block there will be either the word do or say. A primary child will be invited up to toss the blocks.

Look on what side lands up on the do/say block, that will give them what kind of answer they will need to give. Then on the person block, which ever is face up, will be who they will need to share what they could either do something nice to or what they could say that would be nice.

For example, if the person block lands on brother and the say/do block lands on do. Then the primary child could say something like, I could play something with my brother that he really wants to play.

Continue with inviting a child up to toss the blocks as time allows. If time is running out and a person hasn't been discussed, maybe ask the children what they could say or do to be kind to that person.

Close by sharing your testimony on being kind.

If you would like the primary children to make their own blocks to color, here is a free download for that :)

  2. Hello, I know that everyone has to make money, but there is a beer ad on the side bar of your blog. I reported it as inappropriate, but I wanted you to know what is being advertised next to all of your gospel centered lessons.

    1. I am so sorry that came up! :( I have filters set, but sometimes things seem to find their way through. I don't get to see all of the ads, they are ran through an ad network and show up on each person's computer differently, depending on the cookies of that computer. The best thing to do is just what you did, report it as inappropriate. Sorry!

  5. To the other Anonymous: the ads that come up on these types of blogs are catered to the viewer and the past websites they have been on (computers are smart and keep track of things they think you'll like) . . . so if there are ads that come up that you feel are "inappropriate" it's not the blogger's fault.

  8. Thank you so much for these ideas and for the free printables! You have really made planning sharing times so much easier! I was wondering if you would be willing to make your theme poster without color so it could be part of an activity for the kids to color (kind of the like the rolling blocks you made so the kids could color and make them on their own). I know I could print it in black and white, but then everything is shaded, so it's not quite the same. I recognize that this lesson is for tomorrow, so if you don't get this before then, or if you don't have time to do it then I completely understand. Again, thank you for all of your ideas; they are wonderful!!

  9. I cannot thank you enough! My son has been hospitalized for 4 weeks now. Most of that time he was in Surgical ICU. The first 4 days, his life was in great jeopardy. So, doing Sharing Time with any creativity has been difficult for me, to say the least. This lesson I wanted to teach with some zip because being kind makes the kind person feel such joy! It isn't boring at all. My time is so taken up with hospital visits. When I get home, I am emotionally and physically drained. Please do not feel sorry for me because I am so blessed at this time. I am only telling you this because I want you to realize how important this lesson is to me! Thank you so very, very much from grateful me,
