"Ponderize" Week 17: Alma 41:10
Are you ponderizing? How often do you change your scripture? What do you do? Below I am sharing the scripture I am ponderizing during the week and a little bit about how I do it.
Here's the new Scripture:
When I was trying to decide how I would choose scriptures, I decided that I would do the Book of Mormon Mastery Scriptures. I loved doing these as a youth and grew so much, I decided that it was about time I do them again. It's great because they are all chosen for me, they have "Context", "Doctrine or Principle" and "Application" to get me thinking. Here is a link to the Book of Mormon Scripture Mastery List.
If you'd like to study along with me this week here is the direct link to this particular scripture:
Decide on How you are going to Display it:
I do a couple things... I decided that I would keep a journal of all of the scriptures I am ponderizing. The sticky notes that I started with were accumulating. I love the journal idea! I can write the scripture right in there, which really helps with the memorizing and ponderizing. Then I take a picture, this part is crucial!!! I ALWAYS have my phone with me, so it being on the camera roll of my phone makes it super easy to look at and ponder over.
Read and think About It's Meaning & Share it!
Really think about the scripture. Study the scripture. Pick out words and phrases and apply them into your life. If you don't understand something in it, read some scriptures before or after it. Look up some articles on lds.org to help you ponder. Don't keep it all to yourself. Share it!!! Send someone a text, post your thoughts on your social media pages, talk to a friend or family member about what you are studying, as we share we can help strengthen others also. For me, I go through the scripture and pick something out of it each day. I ponder about it, maybe even read an article about it on lds.org. I apply it into my life. Then I post a picture along with my thoughts on my Instagram and Facebook pages.
I'd love to know what scripture you are "Ponderizing" and how you are doing it!! Leave a comment below and let me know what you're doing :)

Family Home Evening on the The Scriptures are the Word of God
I decided that it would be fun to have the last FHE of the month be a review of the month's theme in primary. This could also be done the first week of the following month. This will give the kids an opportunity to help teach and to share what they have learned and a great reminder/refresher for the rest of the family. Primary is all about the basics and sometimes as youth and adults we need to get back to those basics :)
For tonight's Family Home Evening the topic in which I have chosen is:
The Scriptures are the Word of God (Review of January's Primary Theme)

Visiting Teaching Ideas for February 2016: Marriage Is Ordained of God
My Thoughts:
I absolutely love the analogy that Elder Bednar shares. When I think of my marriage, I think of the covenants that not only I've made with my husband, but also the covenants that we have made with our Father in Heaven. They are very sacred covenants to me. I whole heartedly agree that marriage is between, wife, husband and the Lord.
The Family: A Proclamation to the World, states: "WE, THE FIRST PRESIDENCY and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children." Might I add some exclamation points after that, phrase! It has been PROCLAIMED by prophets of God, that it is ordained of God and central to His plan. Is our faith sufficient that we follow and believe our prophets? Without a doubt! I have a firm testimony of the importance of families. The family existed before we entered this mortal existence and it will continue after our time here is done.
I have learned that a marriage relationship can not be neglected. It's funny to think about it now, but I truly thought of marriage as a fairy tale. You find your handsome prince and you get married and live happily ever after. Well, let me just say, marriage can be difficult, it takes humility, patience, unconditional love, forgiveness, and a whole lot of hard work. Just even doing the little extra out of the ordinary things makes a big difference. I have been focusing more on putting the effort into letting my hubby know that I love him and let me tell you the difference it makes. It brings happiness to both of us. If you are married, I would invite you to stop thinking about what your spouse is or is not doing for you and focus more on what you can do for your spouse. I can testify that by focusing on improving my relationship with both my Savior and my spouse it has brought more joy into my life.
For those who are still looking for their eternal companion, I know that at times you may feel like you are loosing hope. I have friends and family members who are in this very spot and it is mind boggling to me, that these amazing people have yet to find someone. But there is always hope, never give it up. I had the opportunity to listen to Sister Nelson (President Nelson's wife), this year at a training. What a remarkable women!! She had been single until she married President Nelson when she was in her 50's. Let me just say that our Heavenly Father is helping to prepare each of us for something. As we draw closer to Him and submit our will to His, He will help us to reach that potential.
No matter what stage we are in our lives we can be defenders of marriage. As well as continually strive for a closer relationship with our Savior.

2016 Mutual Theme Scripture Poster Printable: 2 Nephi 31:20 {Press Forward with a Steadfastness in Christ}
On our weekday activities, we have a combined opening exercise with our young women and young men. During those opening exercise we repeat the Mutual themed scripture for the year. At the beginning of the year it is a necessity for us to have a poster that we can look at each week as we repeat the scripture, that is why I made this poster. But it is interesting because in the middle and definitely by the end of the year, the youth and leaders have the scripture memorized so well that the poster isn't really needed, although we still put it up :)

33 Family Home Evenings Focused on FAMILY
I have shared so many Family Home Evening ideas on here, that I thought it would be fun once to twice a month to spotlight some of them. This month I am going to share some of my favorite Family Home Evenings focused on Family. Our families are so important to our Heavenly Father's plan, they are central to it. The thing is, Satan knows this too, so he is trying absolutely everything he can to make family life difficult and in some cases even cause it's destruction. But because our Heavenly Father loves us and know how essential the family is to His plan, he is always there to help us. Hopefully, some of these FHE's can be used to stress them importance of your families and help to bring strength to it. Some ideas I will share below are ideas that have been used for Primary Sharing Times, these can so easily be used as Family Home Evenings.
More "Press Forward" Temple Block Printables!!
I was excited by the response I got with the Temple Blocks. I was contacted by a few to create a few other blocks with different temples on them. I would love to be able to create a block for each temple, but I usually like using my own images when I create things. Well, I haven't traveled the world and I haven't taken pictures of all of the temples, so with permission I have been able to use the beautiful pictures of others. The pictures taken by others will specify with a photo credit given to them on the printable. Otherwise, the pics were taken by me :)

Family Game Time!! Spoon's Game printable
Have you ever heard of the game, "Spoons"? It is one of the funnest games!! I remember playing it with my friends when I was younger and gathering the kitchen spoons or plastic spoons from the kitchen to play it. A few years back, for Christmas one of my friends gave our family the game for Christmas, I loved the idea! So, this year I made the game for some of my family members. We all need a good arsenal of games, for family time right!

Press Forward Temple Blocks and Temple Goals Activity and Printables: Young Women Activity
I love the new Mutual theme for this year! In planning our first class activity for Beehives, I wanted to do something that could have a focus on the new theme. The new video put out by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the 2016 Mutual theme depicts youth on the path to the temple. To watch that video click here. I love the focus of keeping covenants and staying steadfast on the path to making temple covenants.
So, I decided to have the girls make temple blocks and temple goals. Since, I just love sharing things, I thought I would post the printables on here and how to make the blocks too!
Here is the Press Forward Ogden Temple Printable & the Temple Goal sheets:
***Just ADDED*** More options for the Temple printables (Washington DC, Salt Lake, Brigham City, and Logan) Click here to view image and download!
This was a fun activity, it was so much fun to see the colors the girls chose and see them be creative!
To Make the Temple Blocks:
Items needed:
2x4 cut to 4-1/2 inches in length
Sandpaper
Craft paint
Paint brushes (foam brushes work great)
Printable above (printed onto card stock)
Mod Podge
Ribbon, fabric strips, raffia or tulle
Scissors
How to Make it:
We gave the girls each the block of pre-cut wood and had them sand it with the sandpaper. Then they choose what color they wanted to paint their block. They painted their blocks that color using the foam brushes. (It is not necessary to paint the front, because the paper will cover it. Painting only like a half of an inch in from around the edges is sufficient on the front.)
While the paint dried we had them fill out their temple goals. Each girl received a piece the temple goal printable above. We read the two quotes and they were invited to write down some temple goals they have for this year (such as how many names they plan on preparing for them temple, how often they would like to go do baptisms for the dead, etc.) as well as their long term temple goals (such as eternal marriage and endowments and what they can do now to prepare).
When the paint has dried, the girls then mod podged the Press Forward temple picture to the front of their block. To do so you do not need a lot of glue. Simply place a thin coat of glue on the front of the block and a thin coat of glue on the back of the picture. Place the picture onto the block and smooth out. If you would like you could also mod podge over the picture or spray with a clear coat. On mine I lightly sanded the edges of the picture so it blended into the block better. You could also distress the edges with ink if you'd like too.
Lastly, pick your embellishment, whether it be ribbon, raffia, or tulle and tie it around the bottom of the block into a bow.
If you didn't want to do these as an activity they would also be a great gift for the girls for Birthdays or New Beginnings.
Here are some of the beautiful blocks my Beehive made!!
