Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 58–59 Resources and Insights

Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 58–59 Resources and Insights,

Last week, we learned and discussed a lot about being self-reliant and helping others to become self-reliant as well, by giving of our times, talent and resources. We also learned about the importance of the Holy Ghost in our lives and being patient in our afflictions.

This week, we will be learning about the many blessings that come to us in our life, both temporal and spiritual. All come in the Lord's timing and in His way. As we keep our covenants, our Father in Heaven can rain down more blessings upon us.

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

Day 1:

ometimes in life, we are going to experience unmet expectations. As we discussed this tonight as a family, I had the strongest impression that, when we feel frustrated or upset because our reality is not as we expected, we NEED to turn our focus to gratitude!! Gratitude changes our way of thinking, it changes our attitude towards things. It makes it easier to bear our burdens, it brings joy into our life.

Couple gratitude with service and you have a powerful combination!! Service, helps us see outside of ourselves and focus on others. Both help us to have a more positive outlook on life!

How have you seen gratitude and/or service have a positive effect on your life??

Here a great article:

DAY 2:

The past two week’s, there has been a lot of study of being patient in tribulation. I’m grateful for these revelations included in the Doctrine and Covenants. Just as the early Saints had to endure and be patient in tribulation, so must we.

Someone I have learned a thing or two from in my life is, my Nana. I was thinking the other day of all of the trials she has faced in her life. For as long as I can remember she has suffered from MS and Diabetes. But growing up, I never heard her complain about it. When she was in her late 40’s my Papa, her husband suddenly passed away. How hard that must have been! Her trials have continued to pile on, and I just have to remember that trials are a part of mortality. For me, my trials have brought the blessings of helping me draw closer to my Savior and solidify my testimony of Him.

When we are going through a trial, sometimes it might feel like it consumes us. But, we must remember to keep an eternal perspective. To be patient, to hold on, to lay our burden at our Savior’s feet and to remember that in time it will pass. For me, my Savior is an essential key to enduring trials with patience, as is looking for the little bits of goodness and filling my heart with gratitude.

For those experiencing a trial, think of something good, something you can express gratitude for. ♥️ & lay your burdens at your Savior’s feet.

Here’s a great talk, I’ve shared it before, but it’s so great I thought I’d share it again. & it’s where I found the quote. 😊

Day 3:

The Lord let’s us be a part of His work. He invites us to do good, & to be “anxiously engaged” in doing good. As spirit children of God we are born with the light of Christ within us. Which helps us distinguish between good and evil.

We are anxiously engaged, in doing good, as we are just good people. We are mindful of others, we invite the Holy Ghost to be our companion and we listen to his promptings.

Today, I talked myself out of a prompting yo visit someone. The visit didn’t happen and now I am left wondering what good I could have done. I know it’s so important to act immediately upon a prompting.

Tomorrow, I will try better to listen and to act. I want to be daily engaged in my Father’s work, to serve Him and serve those around me. Service is a biggie!! It can soften hearts, as well as mend them. It can bring joy into our hearts and can draw us closer to our Savior ❤️

Here’s a great article, take a minute to read through it:

Day 4:

When we pray by faith, we have a belief that we have a Father in Heaven who listens and answers our prayers. We understand that He is all powerful and all knowing. That He will answer our prayers in the best way and in His timing.

I have had many prayers answered and some prayers that have yet to. Those prayers that have been answered strengthen my testimony of prayer. The ones I am waiting on, helps we to learn patience and a resolve that our Father knows best and allows us to experience even the hard things that come with mortality.

The BEST is when my children share with me, when a prayer for them has been answered. I love watching their testimonies and understanding grow.

Think of a time a prayer has been answered in your life. Acknowledge it and let it strengthen your testimony ♥️

Day 5:

The Sabbath Day is a day to dedicate ourselves to our Father in Heaven. It is a day, we strive to do those things that will bring us closer to Him.

I am grateful for Sunday’s, it gives us the opportunity to focus more on the things of eternal value. I’m grateful for the holy ordinance of the sacrament. The opportunity it gives me to witness to my Father that I will keep my baptismal covenants.

I think that as we focus on all of the things that the Sabbath Day affords us to do, then our hearts will be filled with gratitude! I know mine is!!

Day 6:

I love this statement!! I love it because it reminds me, that I need to be better at really recognizing and acknowledging the Lord’s hand in ALL THINGS! The article this quote came from was so great, because it pointed out how even having access of technology, is a blessing from the Lord! I have always had a strong testimony that technology was inspired of the Lord, to further His kingdom. When used correctly it can do much good. Just look at all of the good that it has been to the missionaries during the pandemic. I have seen first hand, how technology allows us to connect and share the message of Christ’s gospel with people all around the word!! I’m so grateful to the Lord for those capabilities and for those connections. ♥️♥️

Take a moment and ponder on your own life, in what things can you acknowledge the Lord’s hand in your life.
