2017 LDS Sharing Time Ideas for August Week 4: I should do things on the Sabbath that will help me stay close to Heavenly Father.

Ideas for August Week 4 OR 3 LDS Primary Sharing Time,

2017 Sharing Time Outline Theme: Choose the Right

August 2017 Scripture: “If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things” (Articles of Faith 1:13)

August 2017 Song: Song: “I’m Trying to Be like Jesus” (CS, 78–79)

August Week 4 Topic: I should do things on the Sabbath that will help me stay close to Heavenly Father.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important thing is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ!

Sharing Time Instruction:

Begin Sharing Time by showing the video, "The Sabbath is a Delight"

Explain to the primary children that Heavenly Father has given us the Sabbath Day as a gift. It is a day that we can rest from our daily duties, renew our covenants and do things that will help us stay close to our Heavenly Father.

Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "I should do things on the Sabbath that will help me stay close to Heavenly Father."

For the Activity give each of the primary children the printable sheet that says "I Should do things on the Sabbath that will help me stay close to Heavenly Father." Invite them to each draw on the paper something they do or can do on the Sabbath that will help them stay close to Heavenly Father.

While the children are writing and drawing their pictures, have some music playing in the background to encourage reverence. Invite them to listen to the words of the songs as they are drawing.

When the children are finished, invite some of the primary children to come up and share with the rest of the primary what they drew and how it will help them stay close to Heavenly Father. Discuss with the primary.

Close by sharing your testimony on the topic.
