Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 45 Resources and Insights

Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 45 Resources and Insights,

This last week, we learned about God's law, including how we are to treat each other with love and unity and the law of consecration. I loved this last week's study and found some amazing quotes. One of my favorites focus on, that it is more important to focus on what we are doing and how we are treating others, then worrying how we are being treated ourselves.

This week we are learning about some pretty amazing things, such as our Savior being our advocate with the Father, that we are to stand in holy places and that the gospel is a standard to all nations.

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

Day 1:

To be honest, in high school talking about the Second Coming kind of freaked me out, because so much of the focus was on all of the bad things that would happen. It also was of interest to me. I remember sitting in seminary with a list of all of the things that would happen before the Lord’s coming & trying to figure out which ones had happened already.

As I’ve learned more, that fear has been replaced with anticipation. I love that the Lord says in D&C 45:35 “Be not troubled, for, when all these things shall come to pass, ye may know that the promises which have been made unto you shall be fulfilled.” This is comforting to me. I know that the Lord loves us! I also understand, that as we prepare and as we keep and live our covenants, that blessings will come. I know for me, that peace comes as I focus on my Savior and His love ♥️

Here is an excellent talk by Elder Rasband:

DAY 2:

I can not even express how grateful I am for my Savior and that He is my advocate with my Heavenly Father! I know that our Father loves us and sent His son to do for us what we can not do for ourselves. He satisfied justice, paying the price with His blood. He can advocate for us, because He knows our sins, He knows the intent of our heart, He is full of mercy, love and understanding for each one of us. ♥️♥️♥️ I would want no other to plead my case! I love Him 💕

What thoughts have you had come to mind as you have studied this week about the Savior being your advocate?

Here’s a link to an old visiting teaching message that has some great quotes & insights about Jesus being our advocate:

Day 3:

I read three articles looking for a quote to go with this scripture tonight, & I just kept coming back to the scripture, nothing said the message, quite like it does!

I am grateful for the gospel and the covenants we get to make with our Heavenly Father!!

Tonight, as a family we talked about the covenant of baptism, because that’s the covenant that every member of our family has made.

We discussed the promises we make, one of which is to take Christ’s name upon us. One of my kids said, that, that means we represent Him.

As we live our life, would others know that we are Christ’s representative, by the way we live it? Do they know that we are members of His church and His disciples?

I listened to the @followhimpodcast today & just really loved many of the things said. Dr Brent L Top was on it and shared a story of when he played basketball in high school & he had a non member teammate. Later on when he found out that teammate was baptized, he had said to him, that he had wished that he was the one to have shared the gospel. And his friend said, that he didn’t know he was “Mormon”. This story, made me reflect on my life & wanted to have my kids reflect on theirs. Are we actively living the gospel. Do our friends and neighbors know that we are members of the church. It is my hope that if any of our friends had any questions about the church or had interest in it, that they would know that they could come to us. ♥️ (go listen to the podcast! It’s in the part 2 towards the end like 39 minutes into it. I also loved his closing testimony ♥️♥️)

I’m grateful for the standard, my covenants are to me and the light that they bring into my life. I strive to keep them and live them because I love my Father and I want the increase light and direction in my life!

What have you learned this week from studying about covenants? How have covenants been a standard in your life?

I’ll link to the talks on the blog & remember you can find these quotes there as printables as well:

Day 4:

We had a discussion tonight about progression! ♥️ I have a couple kiddos who are a little overwhelmed with the concept of eternity. I had to remind them that our life is about progression.

I think we like to separate our life into groups, premortal, mortal & eternal. It is all our life and all of it is about progression. We progressed in the premortal world, we are hopefully progressing in this mortal world with our bodies & we will continue to progress throughout eternity as resurrected beings.

I loved this quote by Brigham Young!! We are to have joy and enjoy more, to increase in our knowledge and experience ♥️♥️♥️

I am so grateful for Heavenly Parents who love us and have given us the opportunity to progress, to learn and grow! ♥️♥️♥️

What are your thoughts on the second coming, progression & eternal life?

Here are some excellent quotes by Brigham Young:

Day 5:

I loved this quote as soon as I saw it!! The rest of it says, “Standing in holy places is all about being in good company, whether you are alone or with others. It’s being where the Holy Ghost is our companion—alone or in a crowd. When we determine within ourselves that we will control our thoughts and our actions and be the best we can possibly be, the best of life will come to us.” (Sister Sharon G. Larsen)

I love that it points out that standing in holy places means we are inviting the Holy Ghost to be with us. Wherever and whenever he is with us we are standing in a holy place.

I think that this is such an important concept to share with our children. To learn for themselves the best ways to invite the spirit into their lives and notice what things drive him away, so they can avoid those things.

I know that when I have the spirit with me, I feel more peace and more happiness in my life! ♥️

What are your thoughts on standing in holy places?

Day 6:

I really have always loved this quote!! The only power Satan has, is the power we let him have over us. We are much stronger than him!!

One of the scriptures this week speaks of Satan being bound. How can we bind him in our lives? By not allowing him to have power over us! By filling our lives with righteousness and focusing on Christ. And when we do fall to temptation, we repent and invite the Savior to be even more prevalent in our life. You notice I say when, not if. When, because we are not perfect and that’s okay. The important thing is partaking of the atonement and moving towards Christ. Life is about progression. Each choice we make we can choose to progress towards Christ. Repentance, helps us progress towards Christ. Heavenly Father’s plan really is just beautiful! How wonderful that we have a Savior! ♥️
