Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 63 Resources and Insights

Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 63 Resources and Insights,

Last week, we learned about the power for the Lord! That He desires for us to open our mouths and proclaim the gospel. As we do so, we have have His help. Our talents will be increased as we use them to serve Him and to build His kingdom.

This week, we will be learning about how more is needed to secure our faith then seeing signs or miracles. We learn about how important the law of chastity and how the Lord directs both our spiritual and temporal needs.

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

Day 1:

Why is it that the Lord desires our obedience?!? It’s so He can rain down blessings upon us.

Today, while we were watching a movie, a commercial came on about a show about bars. It was very evident from the commercial that alcohol brings with it chaos, and things contrary to righteousness. It made me think of the large and spacious building from Lehi’s dream. Many in this world are trying to make wicked things look good and are portraying things that are righteous as being bad. I am grateful for the guidance of living prophets. I’m grateful for the commandments, that give us that guidance to navigate through the things of this world. I’m grateful for the Holy Ghost that witness’s the truth to us.

As we are obedient we receive blessings. We are happier and more at peace because we have an untroubled conscience. We are blessed with the Lord’s help and the influence of the Holy Ghost ♥️♥️

I love that there are articles in the church’s magazines that help us with our study, here’s the link to one, that I got the quote from:

What Comes from Above Is Sacred

Day 2:

Why is it so important to listen to the words of the Lord? It has been something He has asked His people to do in every dispensation.

I asked that question tonight to my family. We all came to the conclusion that it is, so we know the way to return to Him & so we are reminded how to return to Him. We are so easily distracted in this world, that is why we need to be reminded to even do the small and simple things.

I was thinking about how our Savior is the master, He created this earth, He was chosen from the beginning to be our redeemer. So, if you were trying to navigate through something, wouldn’t you want to listen to the person who was going to get you safely through it. Someone who has mastered it?? The Savior tells us in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

Our Savior has mastered this world, listening to His words will help us return safely home to our Father’s presence ♥️

Here’s a great talk:.

Day 3:

There’s a hymn that says, “Who’s on the Lord’s side? Who? Now is the time to show.” (Who’s on the Lord’s Side?)

Are we on the Lord’s side?!? He is with the righteous. I’ve spent some time reflecting today. Reflecting on how I can be a better person, a better neighbor, family member and friend. Am I living a Christlike life? What do I need to do better? How can I be a better neighbor and friend? How can I be more righteous? What caused me to reflect more on this was finding out that I wasn’t invited to something for a friend. I’m not sure why, but it caused me some reflection. On how I can be better about reaching out, serving and being there for those around me. How I can be more Christlike and a better friend. I want to live my life so there is never any doubt that I’m on the Lord’s side. I want to be the person that makes others feel important & loved. ❤️

In tonight’s study, we discussed the wicked and rebellious. I know that our Father loves all of His children and that our Savior suffered and atoned for all. We live in a word where wickedness and rebellion seem to be increasing. Where one of the adversary’s greatest tools is confusion. Sometimes, I feel like my head is spinning from everyone’s view on what is good and what is evil. That is when I have to remind myself that the only view that matters is the Lord’s and we can find His view and guidance in the scriptures and from our prophets.

I read this fabulous talk tonight, here’s the link:

Day 4:

As we exercise faith and righteousness, we will receive signs and witness miracles in our lives. For me, “signs” come by way of the spirit. As I exercise faith and live the gospel, the spirit witnesses or “gives me a sign” that the doctrine and principles of the gospel I’m living are true.

If we want to gain a witness or a sign that a principle is true, then we must have faith and live that principle. That is when the Holy Ghost can witness truth in our life.

I have a testimony of prayer and Christ’s atonement, because I have exercised faith and turned to my Savior. From that I have received signs and miracles in my life. I am grateful that lasting faith, requires exercising our faith. It helps us avoid doubt. It helps to solidify our testimony.

Ponder on somethings you have exercised faith in, how has it helped your faith and testimony grow?

Here’s a great talk to go with this study:

Day 5:

So, this week’s study involves some discussion on chastity and keeping our minds clean, & avoiding unrighteousness, such as lying & whoredomes.

I loved this quote from Russell M Nelson! How important are our thoughts!! In this week’s study it says, “he that looketh on a woman to lust after her, or if any shall commit adultery in their hearts,” (D&C 63:16)

Unrighteous thoughts, can effect the intent of our heart and can lead to unrighteous actions. So what can we do, to keep the termites of the mind away? We can fill our thoughts will righteousness. As I was out weeding today, I had an earbud in and was listening to some of the youth album music. The thought came to my mind, how listening to good music, has an effect on our thoughts, our attitude and our actions. Doing things that invite the spirit will help us keep our minds free from unrighteousness.

I feel like it’s kind of a circle. Sometimes our actions, the things we do that brings unrighteous thoughts to our mind. How important it is that we choose our entertainment wisely. What movies & shows we watch, what social media accounts we look at, what music we listen to and what books we read all can effect what enters our mind. So, our actions can effect our thoughts, our thoughts can effect our actions and both can effect our character. Hopefully, we will choose to do those things that will keep the spirit as our constant companion and focus our mind on our Savior and His work. ♥️♥️

Here’s a great talk:

Day 6:

Is the Lord involved in our temporal affairs? Yes. I found a great article, that I really liked the correlation and explanation between spiritual and temporal elements of our lives.

Just as we have received counsel and guidance for our spiritual growth and well being. The Lord has also given us counsel and guidance for our temporal growth and well being.

In the article Gérald Caussé said, “Since the beginning, Church teachings have included many commandments and principles that are temporal in nature, such as the Word of Wisdom, tithing, the law of the fast, and the need for education, employment, and self-reliance. Members have been counseled frequently to practice provident living, live within their means, avoid unnecessary debt, and prepare for the future by developing temporal reserves, including food and financial assets.”

If you think about it, all of those things if followed faithfully, will bring us growth and blessings. They also will bring us spiritual growth.

As you read through those things was there anything that you felt inspired to work on? I know that our Heavenly Father loves us and that He desires us to experience joy. Joy comes as we live and follow His counsel. ♥️
