My Thoughts:

Virtue is one of the Young Women Values that has been added to the Young Women theme within the past few years. It is not necessarily a word you hear a lot about in society.  As I read about and study virtue, I became to have a greater understanding of it's meaning.  On the Gospel Topics Page on lds.org it states: "Virtue is a prerequisite to entering the Lord’s holy temples and to receiving the Spirit’s guidance. Virtue “is a pattern of thought and behavior based on high moral standards.”  It encompasses chastity and moral purity. Virtue begins in the heart and in the mind. It is nurtured in the home. It is the accumulation of thousands of small decisions and actions." What a beautiful explanation.

President Hinkley stated, “Love of God is the root of all virtue, of all goodness, of all strength of character.” (Gordon B. Hinckley, “Excerpts from Recent Addresses of President Gordon B. Hinckley,” Ensign, Apr. 1996, 73.)  Does this not make so much sense! When we love God then we will have a strong desire to pattern our lives in a way we can draw closer to Him.  We can do this by having a pure heart and mind and living our lives based on high moral standards.  The Thirteenth Article of Faith states: "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things."
