Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.

Sharing Time Instruction:

Before Sharing Time place a set of scriptures in a gift bag.  Explain to the children that in the bag is a very precious gift. This gift was given to us by our Heavenly Father. This gift will help our love for our Savior, Jesus Christ grow. For this gift to bless us we must do something. We must study it.  Invite the children to share with you what they believe is in the bag.  Pull the scriptures out and place them on the table. Show the children to Week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "My love for Jesus Christ grows when I study the scriptures. "

Invite the children to play a game of tick, tack, toe.  Using the printable above, have one side of the room be hearts and the other side of the room be the picture of the Savior.  Draw a tic tac toe grid on the board like the image to the left.  Choose which side goes first by asking the children to fill in the blank to this phrase, "If ye love me, keep my______________.) First side to answer goes first.  The team who goes first will need to look up one of the scriptures below and tell how that scripture can help their love for Jesus grow. After they answer, they can come and place their tic tac toe piece whether they be heart or Savior picture on the board in one of the tic tac toe spaces.  Then it will be the other teams turn to read their scripture and share their thoughts about how their love for the Savior grows from that scripture. They will then place their piece in one of the spaces, and it will be the other teams turn. The game continues until one of the teams gets tic tac toe, three in a row.  ***note... for younger kiddos you could use picture and have them share what they know about the scripture story of that picture. I have shared the pictures also below with their coordinating scripture***

If ye love me keep my _______,(commandments) (talk about how scripture study is a commandment)

3 Nephi 17:11 And it came to pass that he commanded that their _____ _____ (little children) should be brought. So they brought their _____ ______ (little children) and set them down upon the ground around him, and Jesus stood in the mist; and the multitude gave way til they had all been brought unto Him.

Mark 10:14 Suffer the _____ ______ (little children) to come unto me, and forbid them not; for such is the Kindom of God.

Which prophet restored the golden plates so that we could have the scripture in the latter days? (Jospeh Smith)

Who did Nephi and his brother have to get the records, brass plates, or scriptures from when they had to depart into the wilderness? ______ (King Laban) Tell story- how they approached Laban a few times and he took their riches and but would not give them the records. Nephi was given courage by the Lord and had so much faith that he was able to slay the wicked King Laban and get the records.

Revelations 3:20 Behold I stand at the ____ (door) and ____ (knock) , if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him and he with me. Explain to the kids that the Lord wants us to come unto him and one way we can do that is by reading our scriptures and praying. By doing this, we will feel closer to him.

Mormon 9:8 Behold, I say unto you, he that denieth these things knoweth not the _______ (gospel of Christ) yea, he has not read the scriptures, if so, he does not understand them.
