Sharing Time Instruction:
Begin sharing time by placing a picture of the Anti-Nephi-Lehies on the board. Cover the picture with the theme poster (before hand cut on the dotted lines of the poster).  Invite the children to repeat with you "Repentance is a change of mind and heart." Take a part of the poster away, revealing part of the picture. Have the children repeat the phrase with you again.  Continue taking pieces away and repeating the phrase until the picture is completely uncovered.

Show this short video clip of the people of Ammon (Anti-Nephi-Lehies): Chapter 26: The People of Ammon . Or you can tell the story, here is a link to the story with some images: The People of Ammon.  Discuss with the primary children what the people of Ammon did to fully repent. Discussion might include that the people of Ammon repented of killing and made a promise that they would not kill any more, they buried their weapons and would not fight against their enemies. Discuss how they had a change of mind and heart.

Give each child the sword handout.  Invite the primary children to write on the sword one thing that they would like to not do any more, such as hurting a brother or sister, or saying a bad word, etc.  Have them fold the paper over covering up or burying the sword. On the side that is covering the sword, ask the children to write some ways they can overcome the thing they want to stop doing. For Junior primary they could draw pictures instead of write words.

Close by sharing your testimony about when we repent then we have a change in our mind and our heart. We no longer have a desire to sin, but a desire to do good.

  2. Love it. I am teaching this Sunday and this will be helpful. I love the link to the video. The kids always love when we show a video (and it makes it easier for me too!) Thanks again. I am sure you put a lot of work into these lessons. It is much appreciated!

  3. Any chance you could email me a copy of your handout in Word so I can change the text to Thai? I teach in a Thai/English branch and have to make Thai versions of all the handouts we use. :-) Thanks! amylynr@gmail.com
