2018 Sharing Time Outline Theme: I am a Child of God

August 2018 Sharing Time Topic: Heavenly Father Hears and Answers My Prayers

August 2018 Song: “A Child’s Prayer” (CS, 12–13)

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important thing is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ!  (All printables for this sharing time can be found and printed by clicking the "Free Printable Download" button. They are free and can be printed and used for personal and church purposes)

Sharing Time Instruction:

Review with the primary children what they learned last week.

Show the primary children the theme  poster and invite them to repeat, "Answers to prayers come from Heavenly Father in many ways."

We know that we can play to Heavenly Father at anytime and anywhere, we also know that our Heavenly Father will answer our prayers. His answers will come in His way and in His timing. He answers our prayers in many ways.

Let's play an activity that will teach us, the many ways the scriptures say prayers are answered.

Using the printables in the free download below, place all of the matching cards face down.  Invite a primary child to come up and choose two cards. They are trying to match the scripture to the "way the prayer is answered phrase".  When the card is turned over, read the phrase or if it is a scripture read the scripture. If the two cards match then discuss with the primary children that way the prayers are answered, even invite some of the children share their experiences. If the cards do not match, turn them back over and invite another primary child to come up and choose two cards. Continue until all cards have been matched and discussed. (Tip for the younger kiddos, the borders are color matched too)

Close by singing "A Child's Prayer", invite children to be more mindful of how Heavenly Father answers their prayers throughout the week, and sharing your testimony.

Matches:

D&C 6:22–23 (through peaceful feelings)

D&C 8:2  (through thoughts in our minds and feelings in our hearts)

Mosiah 27:36 (through the actions of other people)

2 Nephi 32:3 (through the scriptures)

Mosiah 27:11 (an angel appeared to Alma the Younger)
