2017 Sharing Time Ideas for December Week 1: Heavenly Father sent His Son to earth.

Ideas for December Week 1 LDS Primary Sharing Time,

2017 Sharing Time Outline Theme: Choose the Right

December 2017 Sharing Time Topic: Jesus Christ Is the Son of God

December 2017 Song: Your Choice

December Week 1 Topic: Heavenly Father sent His Son to earth.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important thing is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ!  (All printables for this sharing time can be found and printed by clicking the "Free Printable Download" button. They are free and can be printed and used for personal and church purposes)

Sharing Time Instruction:

To start primary have three primary children come up to the front of the room. Give them each a poster to hold, the poster have three parts of the 1st Article of Faith on them.

Invite the first child to hold up his poster high and have the primary children repeat with you, "We believe in God, the Eternal Father,". Have the second child hold up his poster and invite everyone to repeat with you, "and in His Son, Jesus Christ,". Have the third child hold up his poster and repeat, "and in the Holy Ghost."

Explain to the primary children that Jesus Christ is the Son of our Heavenly Father, both spiritually and mortally. He sent his son to Earth for us.

Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "Heavenly Father sent His Son to earth."

From this point here are three different options:

Option one:

Play the video, "The Nativity"

After the video discuss with the primary children why it was important that Heavenly Father send His Son to earth. Explain how necessary it was for Him to come to earth to be our example, to teach us, to guide us, to atone for us, to save us, to die for us and to be resurrected for us.

Close by sharing your testimony and singing the song, "He Sent His Son"

Option two:

Have the primary children help teach the nativity. You could divide them into groups and have each group draw pictures of a part of the nativity. For example group one, would draw pictures of the angel coming to Mary.

Group two, Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem.

Group three, Mary and Joseph finding that there was no room in the inn.

Group four, Baby Jesus being born in a stable and placed in a manger.

Group five, Angels tell shepherds about Baby Jesus and a new star appears.

Group six, The wise men follow the star and worship Jesus.

Discuss with the primary children why it was important that Heavenly Father send His Son to earth. Explain how necessary it was for Him to come to earth to be our example, to teach us, to guide us, to atone for us, to save us, to die for us and to be resurrected for us.

Close by sharing your testimony and singing the song, "He Sent His Son"

Option Three:

I love the thought of focusing the sharing time on the son, "He Sent His Son"

Have Five items where the primary children can see them.  The items are: A Manger with a baby or a picture of the Baby Jesus, Picture of the Savior walking among men, Picture of the crucifixion or the resurrection,  Picture of Savior serving and loving others, and "Live Like Jesus" Printable (see free download below).

For the sharing time, explain to the primary children that you are going to ask them a question and they need to find the picture that would answer that question. Invite a primary child to come up. Ask the question and have the primary child find the picture. Discuss with the primary children the answer to the question.

Questions, pictures and answers:
(All words to the questions and answers come from the song, "He Sent His Son")

Question 1: "How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness?" Matching Picture: The Nativity. Answer: "He sent his Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness." Discuss with the primary children how the Savior is the prince of peace. That as we turn to him and strive to be like him we can find peace in our lives. You could also discuss the birth of the Savior here.

Question 2: "How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go?" Matching Picture: Picture of the Savior walking among men. Answer: "He sent his Son to walk with men on earth, that we may know." Discuss with the primary children what Jesus taught us while he was on this earth.

Question 3: "How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death?" Matching Picture: Picture of the crucifixion or the resurrection. Answer: "He sent his Son to die for us and rise with living breath." Discuss with the primary children the importance of the Saviors sacrifice, crucifixion and atonement. How each were essential parts of our Heavenly Father's Plan.

Question 4: "What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say?" Matching Picture: Picture of Savior serving and loving others. Answer: "Have faith, have hope, live like his Son, help others on their way." Discuss with the primary children examples of how the Savior showed faith an hope and loved and served others.

Question 5: "What does he ask?" Matching picture: "Live Like Jesus" Printable (see free download. Answer: "Live like his Son." Invite the primary children to draw pictures of how they are going to Live Like Jesus. If time allows, invite some primary children to share their pictures. Explain that we can live our lives like the Savior each day.

If you would like you could give each of the primary children the #LightTheworld Calendar. Here is a primary version my friend Emilee put together:
