Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.

Sharing Time Instruction:
Before sharing time cut out the puzzle pieces and tape them to the bottom of chairs randomly in the room, that the children will be sitting on.  Begin sharing time by explaining that you would like the children to help you introduce the topic of today's sharing time. Invite the children to look under their chairs and see if they have a puzzle piece taped to the bottom of their chair.  Invite them to come to the front with their puzzle piece.  Invite the children to work together to put the puzzle together.  When the puzzle is completed invite all of the primary to recite, "Prophets are called by God."

On the board place a picture of Joseph Smith, a picture of Moses, a picture of Lehi and a picture of President Thomas S. Monson.  On the floor place the "Clue's", face down (see clue printable above).  Explain to the children that you are going to invite a primary child to come up and toss a bean bag onto one of the clues.  Then you will have them read the clue and that the primary children can help guess which one of the prophets the clue describes. When the primary children have matched the clue to the prophet then you will read a scripture about that prophet. You will continue until each clue has been read and matched to a prophet.

Clues and Scriptures:

Moses: Clue- I was called by God as He spoke to me from a burning bush; God called me to write the first five books of the Bible; and God called me to lead His people out of Egypt.  Scripture: Exodus 3:4–5

Lehi: Clue- God asked me to take my people and flee Jerusalem.; Heavenly Father gave me the Liahona to help guide us as long as we were faithful; I had a great dream and in it I saw a tree with fruit that would make you happy. Scripture:  1 Nephi 1:5–6

Joseph Smith:  Clue- When I was 14 years old I prayed to know which church was true.; As I prayed Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to me.;  I was called by God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth.  Scripture: Joseph Smith—History 1:16–17

President Thomas S. Monson: Clue- I am the current prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.;  I have a special concern and care for others, especially the widows; After receiving a commission in the United States Naval Reserve, he recognized the importance of following the council of the prophet.  Quote: "I would not hold the position in the Church I hold today had I not followed the counsel of a prophet, had I not prayed about that decision, had I not come to an appreciation of an important truth: the wisdom of God ofttimes appears as foolishness to men.1 But the greatest single lesson we can learn in mortality is that when God speaks and His children obey, they will always be right." (January 2015 Liahona Magazine: First Presidency Message)

Conclude by inviting the children to share ways they follow the current prophet, President Monson.

Close by sharing your testimony that Prophets are called by God.
