My Thoughts:
As I read through this month's Visiting Teaching Message, my gratitude and shear awe of the Savior grew stronger.  My favorite quote was this one,

“We can turn to Him … because He understands. He understands the struggle, and He also understands how to win the struggle. … The power of His Atonement can erase the effects of sin in us. When we repent, His atoning grace justifies and cleanses us (see 3 Nephi 27:16–20). It is as if we had not succumbed, as if we had not yielded to temptation. As we endeavor day by day and week by week to follow the path of Christ, our spirit asserts its preeminence, the battle within subsides, and temptations cease to trouble.”2

It is such a comfort to know that my Savior knows exactly how I feel and the struggles I go through.  That he is there to help, to help me overcome and win my struggles.  What I love so much about the atonement is that not only is it the way we can be cleansed and forgiven from sin, but it is also the way we come to know our Savior.  We can feel of His love and comfort, we can feel peace.

The Question to Ponder: "How does being pure differ from being perfect?"
What a deep question to ponder, for me anyways.  As I thought about the definition of the two words.  Perfect being without flaw, complete.  Pure means unmixed, free from what weakens and pollutes.

So here are my thoughts... when we are pure, or pure in heart then we try to keep ourselves free from the pollutants of the world.  We have a unmixed desire to follow the Savior and do his will. When I think about being pure I also think about the 13th Article of Faith that states, "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men...If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things."  When we are pure we have that sincere desire to do those things and live our lives in righteousness.

In contrast when I think of the word perfect. Perfect being without flaw or complete.  Our Savior is the only one on this earth who was perfect.  Our goal is to strive to be perfect as He is.  Perfection is a life long process and can only be obtained through the Savior.  Each time we partake of the atonement and use it's cleansing power we work towards that perfection. As we submit our will unto our Heavenly Father's will and strive to live our lives better each day we are working toward that perfection.  Our Savior makes perfection possible, as we endure our lives in faith, use the atonement and strive to be perfect like the Savior, we can obtain perfection.  When we return to our Father's presence having a change of heart and having endured our trials, through the loving atonement and resurrection of the Savior we will be made whole, complete, perfect.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and wonderful handouts! I love that they are true to the Visiting Teaching message and include so many of the inspiring thoughts! The way you design them entices reading one or more of the quotes...even by those who may not be interested in hearing a lesson.

  3. Oh, I meant to ask: can you *please* make your future handouts larger? We VT a few mature sisters and the print and handout would be ever more useful/touch more lives if the font was larger and darker/bolder. Thank you for considering!
