LDS Sharing Time September 2014 Week 4: By living the gospel I set a good example for others to follow.

September 2014 Sharing Time Topic: Living the Gospel Blesses My Family

September 2014 Scripture:  “We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things” (Articles of Faith 1:13).

Sharing Time Instruction:

Begin sharing time by sharing this story with the children:

Imagine, you are camping in the mountains with your family and have wandered away from the campsite when a huge snowstorm hits. You can't see the trail back to your campsite. Then your father appears, wearing big, heavy boots. He says, ‘I know the way! Follow me!’ Father make big footprints in the snow for you to follow. (adapted from story in 2014 Sharing Time Outline: September Week 4)

Explain to the children that just as the Father in the story created big footprints in the snow to mark the path to follow to get back to the campsite. We can also create a path for others to follow to help each of us return to our Father. By living the gospel we can set those footprints and create a path for others to follow.

Have the primary children repeat, "By living the gospel I set a good example for others to follow."

Have the footprints from the printable above scattered around the room. Invite a primary child to come up and pick a footprint. Read what the footprint says and place it on the board.  Ask the primary children how they can be a good example to others by living this gospel principle.  Continue with each footprint, forming a pathway on the board.

Close by sharing your testimony on the week's topic and invite the primary children to seek opportunities to be a good example to others by living the gospel.
