Sharing Time Instruction:
Begin sharing time by singing the song, "I Believe in Being Honest" pg 149 in the Children's Songbook. Invite them to stand up when they hear the words "honest" or "honesty". If the children do not know the song, review the words with them and write the rhyming words on the board, to help them remember.

After singing the song show the children the Week's theme poster and have them repeat, "We believe in being honest".

Ask the children what it means to be honest.  Read this quote from the "For Strength of Youth",

"Being honest means choosing not to lie, steal, cheat, or deceive in any way."

Discuss with the children the positive consequences of being honest and the negative consequences of being dishonest.  Write the words "Honest" and "Dishonest" on the board. Under the words write the consequences. Examples: Honest: You will be trusted by others and Heavenly Father, The Holy Ghost will continue to be with you, etc.. Dishonest: Other's will not trust you. Unhappiness. Damage your relationship with the Spirit. Damage relationships with others.

Share some situations with the primary children and invite them to share what they would do to be honest. Using the printable with the letters, H O N E S T Y on it, cut and past the situations onto the back of the letters.  Place the letters randomly on the floor. Invite a child to come up and toss a bean bag onto one of the letters.  Read the situation to the primary children and invite them to raise their hand to share their answer. Call on a child to answer, thank them for their participation. Place the letter on the board. Continue with each letter. When all letters have been placed on the board invite a primary child to come up and place the letters in the correct order. Invite the children to read the word "Honest". Invite the primary children to repeat the 13th Article of Faith with you:

"We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things."

Close by sharing your testimony on the week's topic and invite the primary children to seek opportunities to be honest with themselves, others and their Heavenly Father.
