Come, Follow Me 2022 Old Testament Resources and Insights: Exodus 18–20,

I'm so sorry that I am just getting these resources posted today!! It's been a crazy busy week. I'm still trying to adjust to working everyday! Anyways, thanks for stopping by & hopefully you will be able to still use these resources with you family and classes.

I have loved studying the Old Testament so much so far this year! The discussions I have had with my family, so far have been amazing as well. I think it is because the Old Testament, testifies of Christ. We can bring Him into our discussions.

Last week, our focus was on our Savior with it being Easter week. I loved having that focus each day leading up to Sunday!!

This week, we are studying about what happened with Moses and the Israelites after they made it through the Red Sea. In particular, how God was preparing His people. We discuss the importance of working together to help bear the burden of doing the Lord's work. We discuss the 10 commandments and the importance of putting God first in our lives.

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as, insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

Day 1:

I love the message in this quote & I love that it was quoted at the top of our Come, Follow Me lesson manual for individuals and families for this week!!

Something that I am really passionate about is taking the scriptures, reading them, pondering on them and receiving the inspiration on how to apply them into our lives and relate them to Christ.

I was telling the seminary student the other day, that this year, more than ever before, as I have studied the Old Testament I have realized how much it testifies of Christ. I love how all of our scriptures can work together in testifying of Him.

I also love that we can read them and receive the inspiration of how they can relate to our lives and circumstances!! I know that one way that our Heavenly Father communicates with us is through the revelation we receive as we study the scriptures and the words of His prophets.

Day 2:

Today, in our family study, we discussed the need to sustain our church leaders. Like in the times of Moses, although he tried, he could not do it all by himself. He needed the help of others to “bear the burden” of doing the Lord’s work.

When we raise our hand and sustain someone in their calling, we are saying that we will help them to fulfill that calling.

It’s also important to remember that we can’t do it all either. We need help and we need to delegate. That is something that I am trying to be much better at. Giving others opportunities to help. Moses had to do this as well & his father in law, Jethro had to bring it to his attention.

There are a lot of things that demand our time and efforts. It’s important to remember that we are all in this work together! There are times when we will be needed to help share the burden with someone in their calling or responsibilities & there will be sometimes when we will need to rely on others and invite them to share our burden’s and responsibilities. I love that we really are all in this together!! 💖 Might I just add as well, know you are loved, any effort is appreciated and Christ is always there to magnify our efforts!!!

Day 3:

I LOVE THIS!!! What do we gain by being obedient to our Heavenly Father, keeping His commandments, making and keeping covenants with Him and using the atonement of Jesus Christ to change?? As Elder Gong says, “We find and become our best eternal self” ♥️♥️♥️

Isn’t this mortal life all about BECOMING?? We came here to gain a body and experience to BECOME like our Father in Heaven.

To BECOME like Him, it takes faith and it takes work. It takes focusing our lives on our Savior and striving to become more like Him. It takes gaining a relationship with Heavenly Father through prayer, it takes loving Him and being able to be submissive to His will, because of that love.

I am grateful that we have a loving and all knowing Father, who has given us this opportunity to strive to become like Him ♥️ I love that the quote talks of covenant belonging!! Our covenants bind us to Christ!! ♥️♥️♥️

Day 4:

This quote could have inserted, “the Temple” or any other spiritual activity that requires preparation.

Sacred experiences require preparation. For the people of Israel, it was required that they were to “wash their clothes” (Exodus 19:10)

For us that could symbolize repentance. I love talking about repentance, because it is something that relates to every single person!! We have the opportunity to repent, because we have a loving Savior!! Repentance is change, it is progression, it is a coming unto Christ. As we repent, we qualify ourselves to have His spirit to be with us.

I love that this week’s study reminds us of the importance of preparing ourselves to have spiritual experience, to go to the temple, to receive revelation, to partake of the sacrament, to make covenants, etc. Ultimately, we are preparing our selves for that day, when we can once again be in the Lord’s presence ♥️

Day 5:

As I was studying tonight, I knew that I wanted to share a quote about our Heavenly Father’s love and mercy.

I truly believe that our Heavenly Father’s love for us is perfect. That He knows us, like really knows us! That He understands our circumstances. He knows the things we struggle with, He knows our worries, & He knows our hearts. I know that He is a merciful God who loves His children and desires us to return to Him.

I have always looked at His commandments as a way that He shows His love for us. His commandments help us to live our life the best way, the way that will help us to be able to return to His presence. If we desire Celestial life, then we need to be striving to live the Celestial law.

I have found myself trying to be more and more careful with the things I watch on TV and the music I listen to, because I know the deep importance of having the spirit in my life.

The commandments help us to invite the spirit into our life. I need that with preparing lessons and teaching, I need his influence and inspiration in my calling & I most definitely need it with my greatest work and calling of being a mom.

I am grateful for the guidance of the commandments and for the precious gift of repentance. Because I know at times I will fall short & our Father knows it as well. We can repent, we can progress and continue our way on the path that leads back to Him!! ♥️

This is a great talk, though meant for the brothers of the church, it has some great messages that relate to each of us. I particularly love the messages after the header, “Five Principles for Bearers of the Aaronic Priesthood”

Day 6:

As we have studied the 🔟 Commandments this week, we spent some time talking about putting God first & not putting any other thing before Him.

I think that doing those small things every day helps us to remember to put Him first. By “letting God prevail in our lives”, as our Prophet, President Nelson has invited us to do. Why do we put Him first? Because we love Him. Because we remember, our reason for being here, it is to become like Him.

I think having a grateful heart towards God, also helps us to put Him first. As we realize all that He has done for us, then that appreciation will shine through our actions.

It might be hard sometimes as we live in the distracting mortal world. But I truly believe that our lives will be filled with more joy and peace as we put Him first!!
