2017 Sharing Time Outline Theme: Choose the Right

April 2017 Sharing Time Topic: Jesus Christ Teaches Me to Choose the Right

April 2017 Scripture: “For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you” (John 13:15)

April 2017 Song: Song of your choice about Jesus Christ from the Children’s Songbook

April Week 2 & 3 Topic: Jesus Christ taught me the right way to live.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important this is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ!

Sharing Time Instruction:

I thought that for this week it would be fun to incorporate the Easter and the #PRINCEofPEACE campaign. It goes so well with this week's topic. If you'd like another idea that would work for this week check out Week 2.

Check out these other two ideas too: Easter Egg #PRINCEofPEACE advent and Easter Lesson Ideas

Begin, by showing the primary children the theme poster for this week and invite them to repeat, "Jesus Christ Taught me the Right Way to Live".

Explain that we learned last week some of the ways Jesus taught us the right way to live. This week we are going to continue with these teachings.

Explain to the primary children that the Savior is often referred to as the Prince of Peace. Ask them why they think that is?

Explain that Jesus is our key to finding peace. As we live our lives the right way, as he has taught, we will be able to find peace!

Before primary, draw a tick tac toe board on the chalk board. Print the "Principles of Peace" printables below, cut them out and place them in the tick tac toe squares. Also print out the X's and O's.

Divide the primary into two teams. One time will be X's and the other team will be O's. Decide which team will go first.

Invite one of the primary children to come up and choose one of the papers on the tick tac toe square. Invite them to read what it says (or you could read it for them). Read the scripture that goes with it. Then invite that team to share how they can find and/or live that principle in their lives and how that can bring them peace.

For example if they picked "Faith", then they would say the word faith, read the scripture that goes with it and then the team would say something like this, "I can have faith in my Savior, by following his example. This will bring me peace because I will be doing what I should and building my relationship with him." Or they could share a more specific experience they have had in their lives.

Then have them place their coordinating mark on that principle. If they are X, then they would place one of the X paper's on the principle. If you are using a chalkboard, magnets or masking tape work great!

Then let the other team come up and pick a paper. Continue until someone gets a tick tac toe and all of the principles have been discussed.

Give each of the primary children the printable above (find it by clicking the download button below). Encourage them to take it home and think of ways they can find peace in their lives. Have them either write or draw a picture. Encourage them to share with their families.

Close by sharing your testimony of how following the teachings of the Savior and choosing the right way can bring us peace.

Principles of Peace:

Faith: Mark 5:36
Compassion: Matthew 14:14
Forgiveness: Luke 6:37
Repentance: Isaiah 1:18
Gratitude: John 11:41
Scripture: Matthew 4:4
Prayer: Matthew 21:22
Prince of Peace: John 14:27
