2018 Sharing Time Outline Theme: I am a Child of God

September 2018 Song: Your Choice of Song from the Children's Songbook

September Week 1 Topic: Jesus Christ taught us how to serve others.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important thing is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ!  (All printables for this sharing time can be found and printed by clicking the "Free Printable Download" button. They are free and can be printed and used for personal and church purposes)

Sharing Time Instruction:

Invite the primary children to share what they learned last week and how they applied it into their lives throughout the week.

Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "Jesus Christ taught us how to serve others."

Explain that Jesus was the greatest example of how to serve others, we can learn about how to serve from Him.

On the board place the following pictures face down. (Sermon on the Mount, Jesus Washing the Apostles’ Feet, Christ Healing a Blind Man, Jesus Christ with a Child,) Invite a primary child to come up and choose one of the pictures. Discuss with the primary what Jesus is doing in the picture to serve. Then discuss with the primary ways we can follow His example and serve others like He did. (See examples below)

Invite another primary child to come up and follow the same steps as above. Continue until all pictures have been discussed.

Close by reading the following scripture, “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.” Mosiah 2:17

If time allows give the primary children the "Jesus Christ Taught us how to serve others" printable. Invite the primary children to draw pictures of how they can follow the Savior's example of service. If time does not allow, send it home with the children to do at home.

Share your testimony and encourage the primary children to look for ways throughout the week that they can follow their Savior's example and serve others.

Pictures and Discussion on how Jesus Taught us How to Serve Others:

Sermon on the Mount: Teach others, we can teach the gospel to others, we can also help others learn skills that we know how to do. We can teach in our Family Home Evenings too.

Jesus Washing the Apostles’ Feet: Being Helpful, no matter who we are, young, old, rich or poor, we can all serve. We can do things like helping clean a home, being a good friend, helping out at neighbor, etc.

Christ Healing a Blind Man: Comfort the Sick, when someone is sick or lonely we can spend time with them, make them a card or a treat and just let them know that we care.

Jesus Christ with a Child: Be kind to little children, Jesus loved and served the little children. We too can be kind to all kids. We can do something nice for a sibling, we can look for someone at school who needs a friend and go and be that friend.
