2017 LDS Sharing Time Ideas for July Week 3: Reverence is deep respect and love toward God.

Ideas for July Week 3 LDS Primary Sharing Time,

2017 Sharing Time Outline Theme: Choose the Right

July 2017 Scripture: “Wherefore, let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord” (1 Nephi 3:16).

July 2017 Song: “The Wise Man and the Foolish Man” (CS, 281)

July Week 3 Topic: Reverence is deep respect and love toward God.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important thing is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ!

Sharing Time Instruction:

In a gift bag place the word strip, Reverence. To begin Sharing Time, explain to the primary children that Heavenly Father has given us so much, hasn't he! He loves each one of us so much!

To show our love to him there is something we can do.  Invite a primary child to come up and pull out the word stip from the gift bag.

Invite one of the primary children that can read, to read what it says.

Explain to the primary children that you are going to play a song and you would like them to listen very carefully to the song and what it says that reverence is. When they know what reverence is, invite them to raise their hand. Play the song, "Reverence is Love".

Ask the primary children what they think Reverence is???

Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "Reverence is deep respect and love toward God."

Before primary, place the hearts from the printable around the room. Explain to the primary children that to learn about Reverence we are going to do an activity.

Explain that around the room are hearts. On the hearts are place they should be reverent.

Invite a primary child to find one of the hearts and bring it up to the front of the primary room. Read what it says on the heart. Invite the primary children to discuss it.

For example, if the word was "sacrament meeting", discuss with the primary children why they should show reverence in sacrament meeting and how they would show that deep respect and love toward God.

Invite the primary children to show you how they show that deep respect and love to Heavenly Father. (Sit quietly, with feet and hands still, ears listening, thoughts on the Savior)

For more ideas for each heart, see list below.

Continue with each heart.

To close, share your testimony on Reverence.

Sacrament Meeting: When we are in sacrament meeting we are preparing for an ordinance. We are preparing to partake of the Sacrament and renew our baptismal covenants. To show Heavenly Father we are grateful for the opportunity to repent and be forgiven, we can sit quietly with our arms and legs still, listen to the sacrament hymn and prayers and think about Jesus. We can think about the things we can do better, ways we can become more like the Savior.

Primary during Sharing Time: When we are in Sharing Time we are ready to learn about our Heavenly Father and his Gospel. To show our love and respect to him, we can sit still and not bother our neighbors who are trying to listen. We can have our eyes on whoever is teaching or giving a talk. We can be listening, so we can learn what our Heavenly Father wants us to learn and we can be thinking about how we can do what is being taught to us.

Primary during Singing Time: Singing time is also a great time to learn about the gospel and show our love to our Heavenly Father. To show that love and respect, we can have our eyes on the music leader, we can learn and sing the songs the best we can, and we can listen to the words of the song to learn what the song is teaching us about the gospel.

Primary Class: Heavenly Father has called teachers to teach us of His gospel, because he loves us so much and wants us to know how to return to Him. To show love and respect to Him, we can be respectful to our teachers. We can do this by keeping our eyes on our teacher, listening to their lessons, participating by answering questions and sharing our thoughts about the gospel topic, and sitting quietly so others can listen as well.

Temple: The temple is a holy place, it is the house of God, where sacred ordinance and covenants are made with our Heavenly Father. When we are on the temple grounds or inside the temple we should be reverent. We can show our love, respect and gratitude to our Heavenly Father for the beautiful building and the ordinances made within it. To show reverence we are respectful to the temple grounds, we walk quietly and our thoughts are on the blessings of the temple and our Heavenly Father.

Prayer: Prayer is reverent communication with our Heavenly Father. We can show our love and respect by closing our eyes during the prayer, folding our arms, bowing our heads, sitting quietly or kneeling humbly, we can speak respectfully to our Heavenly Father and think about what we are saying and listen to what our Heavenly Father wants to communicate back to us, through the Holy Ghost. If someone else is saying the prayer, we use the same reverence and listen to what is being said.

We'll talk about each one of those when we discuss the places you mentioned. For the first time in a long time I am excited about Sharing Time tomorrow. Thanks, again!
