Relief Society Visiting Teaching Message Ideas for February 2017:  Christ’s Atonement Is Evidence of God’s Love

My Thoughts:

This topic has been on my mind like crazy this month! Isn't it the most amazing thing to know that our Heavenly Father loves us!! I am seriously in awe at how much he loves us.

Think for a minute about your love for your own children, or if you don't have children, think of your love for a family member. Now think about how you would feel, if you had to stand my and watch them experience the pain of the whole world. And while they are in the middle of this experience you have to leave them.

Our Heavenly Father loves us so much that he allowed his only Begotten, most faithful and perfect son to suffer such excruciating pain for us.

This is one of my favorite scriptures:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

My appreciation for my Father and my Savior has grown as I have had to partake of the Atonement. It seems like I have had to use the atonement most, in my trials.

There have been times where I have felt so alone, so helpless. At those moments, I have been able to come to my Heavenly Father in prayer and humbly lay my burdens at my Savior's feet. At those moments I am completely submissive to my Father's will and have felt the loving arms of my Savior feel me with warmth and comfort.

The Atonement allows us to endure our trials better, because we are not enduring them alone. Rather we have our Savior, who perfectly know what we are going through.

Ask yourself the question from this month's message....

How can we express our gratitude and love to God and to Jesus Christ for the gift of our Savior’s Atonement?

For me it is going to have to be what I do with my life. How I live it, how I use my gifts and talents, and how I apply his atonement with gratitude into my life.

Sometimes it's fun to give our sisters something when we go and visit them! Here are some ideas:

Click the download button above for the printable for the little gift bag and bookmark. Inside of the bag I placed some chocolate candy kisses.  (It was printed out on card stock) see directions below:

Print out onto cards stock, cut out the gift bag with scissors. To cut out the middle of the handle, use an detail knife & a mat.

Using the metal side of the ruler, bend on the lines. I bent them on the front first, using the lines as the guide and then turned it over and bent and creased them on the other side.

Using a glue stick apply glue to the flaps and glue together. I also tied some tulle onto the handle. Fill with candy and a book mark.

I hope these ideas have been helpful. Really the most important thing is that your sisters know you care about them, that you are their friend :)
